"You know, I think the most important thing to Sam (Taylor-Johnson) at first was just having an actor there to embody Amy and that was the most important thing to me, too. I didn't want to do anything that even resembles an impersonation of her. You know, I wanted to get her from the inside out. But then it became clear that if I wanted to be able to tell these stories, you know, in the exact moment that we were telling them, I might have to sing the songs. It was important for me to train anyway, just so I would look like her when I was singing. But then, you know, there's a difference between the studio recording and me singing in a pub with all of my best friends there, you know, so it it needed to feel like Amy in those moments, so I think that's why we decided to do it."
