In this video we break down BMPS 2026's Promotion and Relegation system from scratch in the simplest way possible. If the qualifier format has been confusing you, this is the one video that explains every step - who goes up, who falls down, and exactly what determines where each team ends up by the time Grand Finals begin.
We start with the basic structure. Sixty-four teams split into four groups - A, B, C and D - seeded by previous official tournament performance. Group A has the best teams, Group D has the newest and lowest seeded. Each group plays six matches per round within itself, and after every round the table shifts. We explain why this seeding matters and what advantage or disadvantage it creates before a single match is even played.
The core of the video is the Promotion and Relegation mechanic itself. After every six-match round, the top four teams from Groups B, C and D get promoted to the group above them. Simultaneously, the bottom four teams from Groups A, B and C drop down to the group below. We walk through exactly what this looks like with real examples - a Group D team that performs consistently can theoretically reach Group A in three rounds, while an established top team that performs poorly can fall all the way down to Group C.
We give two specific scenarios to make it concrete. The first follows a dark horse team climbing from Group D to Group A through consistent top-four finishes. The second shows how even a team like Soul, starting in Group A, can get relegated if rounds go badly. Both examples make the pressure and opportunity of this system obvious.
After explaining the mechanics, we cover what the final standings actually mean. Group A's top eight teams earn direct Grand Finals spots. Group A's remaining eight and Group B's top eight head to Semifinals. Middle groups go to Survival Stage. And Group D's bottom eight get eliminated entirely. We explain why this creates very different paths for top-seeded and bottom-seeded teams, and why some people feel the format favours established orgs while others see it as the fairest BGMI qualifier system to date.
The video closes with an honest look at the format's strengths and weaknesses - why it keeps every match important, why consistency matters more than individual great rounds, and why this might produce more upset stories than any previous BGMI tournament structure.
If the BMPS 2026 format has been confusing you or you just want to understand every group movement before the tournament begins on May 6, this video explains everything you need to know.
