On 16 May, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar urged farmers to stop protesting as the highly infectious novel coronavirus was spreading to villages too. He said the fight with the government is a never-ending process, but, for now, staying united is important to fight the coronavirus. “I urge protesters ... your fight against government can continue once Covid is over. But it's not the right time for this as coronavirus is spreading in villages. We've to stand together in the fight against Covid-19,” he said.
