Hi all! I finally got out this spring. I decided to hit La Jolla with the swells looking good and wanted to fill the freezer.
I started the day getting a lot of live bait and attempted some drifts for halibut. While drifting I jigged and caught a 13” sand bass. After about two hours with no bites and getting my trap rig snagged, I went deeper to at least get something on the boat.
That’s when the action started! I found fish holding on the bottom in about 170ft of water. I caught and kept a sheepshead, 4 whitefish, and a rockfish. I caught about 6 other rockfish that were safely released.
