We dropped weight with the new foxbody mustang, and at the same time we are upgrading our old clutch from a 7.5" triple to a 9" triple to help keep our clutch wear to a minimum with the new setup. Check out this tech video where I talk about the adjustable AKA "slipper" clutch setup with something you probably have never seen before, a lock-up system.
This lockup clutch allows us to apply more clamp load "on demand" using an electronic solenoid to trigger it. We normally trigger this around the top of 1st gear or slightly after the 1-2 gear change. This lockup clutch is a game-changer as it allows small displacement engines like our 2JZ to fine tune clutch slip off the line while allowing it to clamp fully at 100psi of boost at the top of the track!
