Buddha Smriti Park
is a major urban park in Patna, Bihar, developed to commemorate the 2554th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. Inaugurated by the 14th Dalai Lama in 2010, the 22-acre site was transformed from the colonial-era Bankipur Central Jail into a sanctuary for spiritual peace. Today, January 31, 2026, the park is open until 6:00 PM (with some areas accessible until 7:00 PM for laser shows).

Location: Fraser Road, near Patna Junction (opposite Mahavir Mandir), Patna - 800001.
Operating Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Closed on Mondays).

Pataliputra Karuna Stupa: A 200-foot-high centerpiece housing a pot of holy ashes (relics) of Lord Buddha, originally excavated from Vaishali.
Sacred Bodhi Trees: Two saplings planted by the Dalai Lama, one from Bodh Gaya and one from Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka—both descendants of the original Mahabodhi tree.
Museum & Library: An interactive museum showcasing Buddhist artifacts from Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, and a library dedicated to Buddhist literature.
Meditation Center: Modeled after Nalanda University monasteries, it contains 60 individual cells for quiet contemplation.
Laser & Sound Show: Usually held from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, narrating the history of Bihar and the life of Buddha.
