A toothed blade in a low angle jack plane is very effective at aggressively removing a lot of material fast. In this example, I needed to level an area on the underside of a tabletop to fit the base properly. Tearout is minimal and it makes the follow up with a smoothing plane fast and easy. This particular blade is from Lie Nielsen and fits their low angle jack plane.
Apologies for the huffing and puffing whilst planing, but I had been hard at work all day and was getting quite knackered by this point!
