At the global premiere of the film Girl, Shu Qi was moved to tears by an eight-minute-long standing ovation. Girl is Shu Qi's first full-length directorial work, and it has been selected for the Venice, Busan, and Toronto film festivals. She also won the Best Director award in the main competition section of the Busan International Film Festival. In October, we met with Shu Qi in Beijing to talk about the creative journey of this "oldest new director."
