Описание: Women in Blue History and Initiative - How the San Diego Police Department is creating a more inclusive and diverse department. SDPD signed on to the 30x30 Pledge, a national movement to advance the representation and experiences of women in all ranks of policing, with a specific goal of achieving 30% female recruits in training academies by 2030.

Programs like Women in Blue support that important commitment. Since the initiative’s launch in 2011, the proportion of female sworn officers in the Department’s ranks has risen from 11% to 17%. SDPD soars above the national average – of just 12% - and is one of the most gender-diverse police departments in the nation.

Yet, there is more effort and awareness needed to achieve gender parity, which is critical, as police departments operate best when they reflect the communities they serve.
