Korean American missionary Kenneth Bae has opened up on the torment he suffered during his imprisonment in North Korea.
Giving his first live interview since his release 18 months ago, Bae told CNN that he was thankful and grateful for the people involved in trying to get him home.
He recalled how he worked from 8 a.m. to 6 pm. every day, working on the field, carrying rocks and shoveling coal.
Bae,... who spent almost two years imprisoned with hard labor,... said the verbal abuse he had to endure was almost as bad as the physical pain.
He recalled how one official taunted him by saying the U.S. had forgotten about him and that he would be stuck in the North until he was 60.
Bae was longest-held American imprisoned in North Korea since the Korean War.
In 2013, he was found guilty of unspecified "hostile acts" and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor.
He was released in November 2014.
