We have seen many RTC projects and mostly time, date & alarm settings done by push buttons which is very tedious task and lack of human factors. This project aim is to demonstrate interfacing of RTC with 8051 controller and whose time settings can be done through serial communication using PC.
RTC (Real Time Clock) gives accurate time & date values which can be used in various applications like scheduled operations, attendance system, washing machines, mobiles etc.
This 8051 microcontroller project deals with writing and reading time to RTC (DS1307) with I2C protocol and displaying on 16X2 LCD. We can change or edit all RTC parameters like year, month, date, day, week, hours, minutes and seconds through serial communication using PC. We can also control I/O ports of 8051 for scheduled operations like turning ON/OFF of devices via relay etc. In this project we are controlling one I/O pin to connected to LED and turn it ON & OFF depending upon time sets through serial communication.
