In this video we demonstrate the hyperbolic extrusion smoothing parameters. When performing a normal hyperbolic extrusion the front may include concavities or other features that prevent layers from advancing. Often adjusting the smoothing parameters found in the Attributes tab can improve the result of the extrusion by preventing grid line crossing and numerical instabilities.
There are four parameters that can be adjusted: Explicit, Implicit, Kinsey Barth, and Volume. The Explicit and Implicit parameters control smoothing in the transverse direction. The Kinsey Barth parameter helps prevent grid lines from crossing in the marching direction. And lastly, the Volume smoothing parameter determines how rapidly grid clustering along the extruding front will relax.
