Recommended tempo: 3 secs. down, explosive up.
The tempo reads as 3 secs down, explosive up.
Cues:
-Stand tall with head, shoulders, hips stacked over top of one another and feet together.
-Be sure to set your core before initiating movement.
-Initiate movement by lifting one leg so that the knee comes up to about hip height and taking a large step to the side catching body in a lateral split stance position allowing the knee of the side you will be squatting to flex and letting the hips to glide back a little to create the space sink down toward the one side keeping the opposite leg straight and hips and shoulders square with one another still facing forward.
-Keep head and spine neutral and torso tall throughout movement imagining space between your spinal vertebrae. Your torso may have a slight tilt forward.
-Lower yourself as far as what's comfortable for you, making sure that your feet maintain full contact with the ground. and the long bones of your squatting leg stay aligned with each other keeping your knee pointed the same direction as your foot.
-From lowered position drive through the floor with your squat leg foot and explode up returning back to your start position with feet together.
-Think of driving head up through the ceiling.
-Perform full set on weaker side first before switching.
