NANO REEF AQUARIUM Update!

Описание: An update on my Innovative Marine 40 gallon nano reef aquarium and exciting news about new reef tank build coming soon! So about my 40g nano reef tank...we've had a bit of a battle trying to control excess nutrient levels recently..

The grown out Xenia coral was keeping my nitrate and phosphate levels in check, so after removing all of it (at once, like a dummy)...we were blessed with tons of nuisance bubble algae YAY! Slowly removing it to avoid shocking the system, but the reef tank is not looking very beautiful right now :( Who knew Xenia could be so useful? Maybe we should think about replacing out chaeto heh heh.

To top that all of, INSANE APTASIA!!! I have always feared this little anemone pest and rightfully so because removing it has been incredibly frustrating. It became out of control quickly, so I added some Berghia nudibranchs to get rid of it for good but looks like it's going to take some time. As my first real pest outbreak, I'm trying to stay positive and remember that this is only going to make me a better, more knowledgable reef hobbyist. At least I don't have acro eating flatworms, amiright?!

Despite the algae and pests, corals are doing well! Lots of nub growth and polyp extension on the sps coral and the lps corals are very happy with the extra nutrients (my little piggies). I know that once these issues are fixed, the tank is going to be POPPIN!

EXCITING NEWS THOUGH -- a new reef aquarium build is coming soon!! We’re going BIG ya’ll. Can’t wait to have my hands on my first ever sump and full-sized skimmer whoop whoop. Dreaming of all the saltwater fish possibilities right now...
