Thanksgiving Tradition: Columbia University Gives 1,500 Turkeys to Local Groups

This week, an annual joint effort from Columbia University Facilities and Operations and Columbia Community Service—supported by Columbia Dining staff and matched donations from partner Sysco—helped deliver 1,500 turkeys to nine local organizations fighting hunger and supporting our neighbors: Boriken Neighborhood Health Center, Broadway Community, Inc., Cathedral Community Cares, Church of the Ascension Food Pantry, Drew Hamilton Community Center, NY Common Pantry, P.A’.L.A.N.T.E. Harlem, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, and the West Side Campaign Against Hunger.
Campus Dining Executive Chef Michael DeMartino (bedecked in a turkey hat, to boot!) and School of General Studies Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch joined in to help make the distribution possible.
