I am a proud gay teacher. Over the years, I have seen myself overcompensate to prove my worth. To prove that I am enough. To prove that I can take up space. To prove that I am loveable. I see this as a huge gay issue. We (i.e. me!) tend to overcompensate to make up not for what we don't have but to prove that we are ________. (worthy, strong, sexy, powerful, fill in your own blank)
You do NOT have to overcompensate. I do NOT have to overcompensate. You are ENOUGH just being you. I am ENOUGH just being me.
