I hear folks say that hey don’t like fossorial tarantula species because they essentially become “pet holes”. You drop food in, you change their water, but you rarely see them. I get it, I do. It can be frustrating to keep an animal that you never get to look at.
But that’s the thing; when you DO see them, it;s simply thrilling. I haven’t seen my Cyriopagopus lividum (formally H. lividum) or “Cobalt Blue” in a year, so when I discovered her on the surface during feeding time tonight, I was floored. The last time I saw her, she was a little 2″ brown juvenile. Now she’s a gorgeous blue young adult. Amazing.
Before she decided to disappear for another year, I whipped out the camera and got a bit of footage of her.
