@yourtake4761 host James Ewen talks to record producer Ian Little, who has worked with some of pops finest.
Ian got his first taste of the music business, when he had a chance meeting with Roxy Music guitarist, Phil Manzanera. That chance meeting led him to help design and oversea the building of a state-of-the-art recording studio.
Ian went on to to work in the recording industry for many years, producing albums and recordings from all round the world. Paris, Basel, New York, St Louis, Los Angles, Sydney, Monsterrat and Barbados.
Ian went onto work with one of the biggest bands of the 1980s, Duran Duran. He produced the 1983 studio album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger. The UK number one hit single, Is There Something I Should Know? and Live at Hammersmith ’82.
He was a production assistant on the Avalon album for Roxy Music. Produced Pulling Rabbits From a Hat for Sparks and has also worked with bands New Asia, Belouis Some and OMD.
In this in-depth interview, Ian talks openly about growing up in South London. Attending Kingston-Upon-Thames Polytechnic, where Ian gained a place on the foundation Art course and then went on to study for a BA. Travelling around India and Australia with his girlfriend at the time and his thoughts on experiencing different cultures at a young age. Working for a couple of young architects, which led to a chance meeting with Roxy Music guitarist, Phil Manzanera. Being involved in a project to build a state of the art recording studio for Phil Manzanera. Working as a production assistant on the 1982 Roxy Music album, Avalon. Meeting Duran Duran and working with them to produce the album Seven and the Ragged Tiger and the number one hit single, Is There Something I Should Know? Ian's collaborations with New Asia, Belouis Some, Sparks and OMD. Hardships in Ian's life as he battled drug addiction and homelessness when living in New York. Writing the book Baptism of Fire and Ian's thoughts on the future.
