Collaborative divorce offers an alternative path to resolving family law matters; one that centers dignity, communication, and inclusion. In this program, Elizabeth Vaz of VazLaw introduces attorneys to the collaborative model as a trauma-informed, client-centered approach that helps families avoid the emotional and financial strain of litigation. Drawing on her experience as both a practitioner and child of divorce, Vaz explains why this model is especially powerful for clients from marginalized communities who often face systemic bias and barriers in traditional court settings.
The course explores how collaboration promotes fairness, transparency, and equity through structured teamwork among attorneys, financial professionals, and mental health experts. Vaz discusses strategies for creating safe and affirming spaces, ensuring cultural competency, and incorporating anti-bias principles into practice. Attorneys will gain practical insights into how collaborative divorce can mitigate harm, improve long-term outcomes, and expand access to justice for all families.
