STORYLINE:
Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Thursday.

The Bahraini minister warned of rising tensions in the Gulf region and stressed that more than 36 drones had targeted the Kingdom on Thursday.

"From this point of view, we believe in the importance of continuing international efforts to reduce tension, to respect for the sovereignty of States," Al Zayani said adding that "We know the important role of the Russian Federation in achieving this goal."

Lavrov in turn said Moscow had recently updated and circulated its proposal for Gulf security to regional capitals, including Manama.

"This approach - an approach that doesn't pit Arabs against Iranians, but rather unites them through confidence - building measures and joint contacts - will help establish stability in this region," Lavrov said.
