MH: My father was a professor of Speech and Hearing at [Phillips University] and supported my music without pushing. He had played piccolo and met my mother in the college band when they were students. Mom played the cornet. Dad sang me to sleep every night. Sometimes he and Mom would sing a duet: "Tell me why the stars do shine."
