For those that don't know what a jockey box or a jockey box kit is; it is essentially a cooler that functions as a keg tap. Beer lines run into the cooler, where the beer passes through coils which are chilled down with ice or a cooling plate. As the beer flows through the coils, it cools the beer down before it is dispensed out a tap on the front of the cooler.

The advantage of a jockey beer box is that the keg itself does not need to be cooled down. Cooling a large keg requires a very large cooler or an entire fridge/kegerator. This allows for keg(s) to be used in mobile applications like tailgating, BBQs, and other functions.

It is possible to buy jockey boxes ready-made. In fact, in this video we take apart a complete Micromatic Jockey box and use the parts to build our own roto molded jockey box using a Siberian Cooler. It is also possible to buy a complete jockey box kit to make your own.
