Used often, Pressing Palm or Pushing Palm can be an offensive technique on its own or as a setup to disturb the balance, timing, movement or structure of the opponent for a devastating follow-up technique. This video will show the secret training methods for mastery of the Pressing Palm including qigong, standing post or zhan zhuang training and simple solo practice exercises that can be performed with inexpensive equipment, but will help the Bagua Kuntao Silat practitioner gain mastery.
As always, proper breathing and relaxation is necessary in order to execute Pressing Palm with real power in order to affect an opponent who is determined to cause you harm. The exercises and practices shown in this video will allow you to train in a manner that utilizes your entire body, mentally and physically, for this motion so that all of your energy is brought to bear in an instant upon your opponent.
This video is one of a series of jing training videos and each one supports the others with their exercises and training methods. Generally, practicing one will spill over with increasing the efficiencies of practicing the others, as each reinforces proper mental and physical energies not typically utilized. An internal martial art is a holistic practice that is fully integrated with each part supporting all other parts of the practice. Learning how to train and use Pressing Palm or any of the other Palms in practice, self defense, sparring or fighting will aid with training and using the other Palms in the system.
