Maybe everyone is traumatized in some way.
Psychology shows that our brain is always learning from our experiences, especially emotional ones. When something painful happens, rejection, criticism, betrayal, or feeling ignored, the brain tries to protect us.
It remembers that experience and creates a belief.
For example, imagine someone tells you when you are young:
“Do you know that nobody really likes you?”
“You don’t even have real friends.”
If you hear something like that as a child, you believe it.
Or maybe a teacher once told you:
“You’re not smart.”
“You’re bad at math.”
And now, many years later, you still believe it. Just because one person said it.
Maybe someone once told you that you’re ugly. Maybe another kid said it when you were young. And somehow that one comment stayed in your mind.
And now those experiences slowly turn into beliefs.
“I’m not good enough.”
“I’m not lovable.”
“I always fail.”
Over time, these beliefs turn into automatic thoughts. They repeat so often in your mind that they start to feel like facts.
But they are not facts.
They are patterns your brain learned while trying to protect you.
Your brain is not trying to hurt you. It is trying to stop the same pain from happening again. But sometimes it does that by repeating old fears that are no longer true.
In psychology, this is called conditioning and cognitive patterns. It means the mind keeps repeating beliefs it learned in the past.
But what was learned can also be unlearned.
A thought is not the truth.
A thought is just something your mind produces.
You can question it.
You can interrupt it.
You can choose a different belief.
Your past may explain why certain thoughts appear, but it does not decide who you become.
Awareness is the first step to change.
