Trying to locate the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on a 2016 Nissan Altima? In this video, I’ll show you exactly where it is and what to look for.
The TPS sits on the throttle body, which is mounted to the intake manifold. Open the hood, head toward the driver’s side, and follow the large air intake hose from the air box— it leads straight to the throttle body. The sensor is the small electronic unit on the side with a 3–4 wire electrical connector.
We’ll also cover common TPS symptoms (hesitation, rough idle, stalling, limp mode), why the problem is often wiring or connector corrosion, and a few must-know tips like disconnecting the negative battery terminal before working and letting the car relearn idle after repairs.
If you’re DIY-ing it, I’ll mention typical part costs, what to double-check during reinstall, and why cleaning the throttle body every ~30,000 miles can help keep your Altima running smooth.
