At a San Antonio news conference urging DHS to release 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos from a Dilley family detention facility, Rep. Gina Hinojosa said there’s an effort to “censor” criticism of ICE raids — and alleged she was “shadow-banned” after speaking out.
Hinojosa said “the fear is real,” describing what she said families and children are experiencing, and argued people are being treated “like hardened criminals.” She also claimed ICE is targeting people based on the color of their skin.
She called on the public to ask why this is happening, and framed her remarks as a defense of equal rights and basic protections.
