Yes, some of these material can be hazardous with routine industrial exposure or ingestion or inhalation. Nickel but more so nickel compounds have been implicated in health problems and as carcinogens in industrial settings. As usual, I wore a respirator while working with, grinding and sanding the steel, nickel and wood used here. Nickel is found in stainless steels, white gold, nickel silver, dental work, jewelry, contaminated foods and drinking water, the soil, etc. So it is nearly ubiquitous. Nickel toxicologists feel free to chime in but don't go too crazy!
