Rob Owens, OnwardUP president, IFMGA Mountain Guide and veteran Canadian Rockies ice climber shares the beta on both the basic and more intricate functions of the Petzl Caritool Evo 2.0.
The Caritool by Petzl, commonly referred to as an "Ice clipper", can be placed almost anywhere along the waist belt of any climbing harness allowing ice climbers to customize where they store their ice screws and ice tools on their harness.
As mentioned in the video the Caritool Evo can fit 5 screws comfortably but up to 6 screws if needed.
If carrying more than 10 screws it is recommended to add a third Caritool which can be helpful for holding ice tools while on rappel, at a belay stance, or while doing some rock climbing moves.
Often the best place for the Caritool is in between the front and rear gear loops. If a third or fourth Caritool is added the options are to put it behind the rear gear loop (handy for keeping ice tools out of the way but harder to reach screws while leading) or in front of the front gear loop (easily reached but sometimes the screws can poke your thigh while bringing your knee up high).
