Jimei Dashe Village is one of the oldest villages in Jimei district of Xiamen, with a history of over 700 years. Originally a coastal fishing village, it later became home to many overseas Chinese families, including the family of Tan Kah Kee, a famous local philanthropist. The village is known for its traditional Minnan architecture, including red-brick houses, courtyards, and ancestral halls. Narrow streets, old stone walls, and historic buildings give a glimpse into the life and culture of past generations while preserving the unique heritage of southern Fujian.
Today, people still live here, and many have opened small businesses like eateries, cafes, and souvenir shops. Recently, Dashi has become popular among young people who come to explore, enjoy local treats, and take photos in its historic surroundings.
