Derby Then and now : Friargate bridge view 1958 to 2006

Описание: In this Derby then and now I'm standing on the southern bridge abutment of the east section of the former Friargate bridge looking northeast.
I would love to retake the "now" view but as this site it currently under development then its not possible to do, I will hopefully be able to in a few years.

I actually took the "now" photo in 2006 but have only just got around to making it line up, glad I have though as it looks rather good this one, if you were to take a new "now" photo then it would look the same apart from at the end of the bridge there is now a building butted up against it as you can see in my recent footage here :    • Friargate railway station Derby (site of) ...  
Also you would now see the new buildings on Agard Street built for the university of Derby.

On the far left of the now photo you can see Sir Peter Hilton Court on Agard Street, these buildings were demolished in June 2002, see my drone footage here :    • Agard Street, Derby - A street going throu...  

Friargate station had four platforms, in the hope that the North Staffordshire Railway and the London and North Western Railway would use the station; however these changes did not take place, and the outer platforms at Derby saw little use

Please note that the Then & now section on my website is currently in need of a revamp as they were all created back in 2005 using Flash and this is no longer supported so I will have to recreate all of my work again using a different method. In the meantime I'm publishing them on my YouTube channel like this one.

Best viewed on a large computer screen or smart TV as this is recorded in 4K resolution with great music so a real waste watching it on a small phone screen. Did you know you can cast it to your smart tv from the YouTube app?
