Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick acknowledged Tuesday that he met with Jeffrey Epstein twice after the late convicted sex offender's 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a child. Lutnick previously claimed he had cut ties with Epstein after 2005. The secretary was questioned by Democrats during a hearing Tuesday and downplayed his relationship with Epstein. Lawmakers are calling for Lutnick's resignation after case documents on Epstein were recently released.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that Lutnick “remains a very important member of President Trump’s team, and the president fully supports the secretary.”
