Описание: A lovely afternoon walk around the beautiful countryside village of Aldford in Cheshire, England. Owned by the Duke of Westminster, the village lies within the Eaton Estate and many of the 19th century buildings were built for the Duke's family, the Grosvenor's. We begin this circular walk alongside the village hall before making our way to the church of St John The Baptist. Built in 1866 this beautiful red sandstone church is a Grade II listed building. The old motte and bailey Aldford Castle once stood with its motte to the north of the church and its bailey ditch where the church now stands. Leaving via the stone steps, the road takes us past many of the 26 buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as designated listed buildings. Along the way is a lovely small courtyard with a local shop and cafe, the Grosvenor Arms pub and the sandstone bridge over Aldford Brook. Crossing back up towards the church we pass the beautiful buildings of Aldford Lodge with its wrought iron gates and the Old Rectory. We end our walk back in the centre part of this peaceful, lovely countryside village overlooking the church and village hall.
