Navigating Our Path to TB Elimination: Challenges and Solutions

-TB controllers come together each year, with public health TB control staff and private sector partners, to discuss policy changes, research developments and new practices to improve TB prevention and control in California. During the lunch hour, two awards were handed out to two members of the TB control and prevention community to acknowledge and raise awareness about their contributions to the efforts to protect Californians from tuberculosis. One of those honorees was the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (http://lahsa.org). The featured speakers:

Michael Arnold, Executive Director, Los Angeles Housing Services Authority
LAHSA was honored for developing a system to track Tuberculosis among the homeless. The agency work with County and City Clinics collecting and analyzing the data for TB control.

Exec. Director Michaele Arnold, LAHSA and Data Analyst Steven Rocha. LAHSA acceoted the award for contributions to improving community health through the control and prevention of Tuberculosis (TB). LAHSA created a technology application and system to track TB among the homeless and worked with the DPH TB Control Program and the DPH Community Health Service clinics.
