Original airdate: 1/29/2019 & 2/1/2019 | New York City filmmakers were in Berks County, shooting scenes for an upcoming documentary.
The film's producer and director, Richardo Lopes, said the Colebrookdale Railroad and the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles are the perfect spots for some scenes in his upcoming documentary.
"Truly, when you walk on board, it's a quintessential turn-of-the-century type train," Lopes said. "It's spectacular, from the woodwork to the lighting to the furniture. It had all the ambiance that we were looking for."
The documentary outlines the history of Ernestina-Morrissey, a famed schooner that journalist Frederick Wallace was invited to ride in December 1912. To get to the boat, however, he had to take the train from Montreal to Portland, Maine. Wallace wrote books and poems while on board.
"Our trains were recommended because our trains were restored in the 1900s," said Frank Buttaro, director of marketing for Colebrookdale Railroad.
About 20 extras from the Boyertown area will don period-style clothing on Tuesday, filling up seats on a crowded train as Wallace comes on board. The extras are each getting paid $50 for the day's work.
