Transarctica is a title that appealed to me because of its cool box art, though it's not really my cup of tea so I'm not gonna make a review of it. But since it's kind of an interesting take on the economy/simulation genre, I thought I'd post a short clip of it here. When I tried to film footage of it, my cursor would freeze, so I sadly cant' show you much.
Anyhow, the game takes place in a post apoalyptic ice age setting, which was caused by scientists trying to un-do global warming via weather modification (which obviously went wrong). It was developed by Silmaris and it's a good example of the uniqueness of French games.
You travel the game world on a massive train, picking supplies from towns and selling them forward (you need to make notes of which resource each town has&needs). You're part of a rebel group that has hijacked a train, and the Viking Union that controls the entire world is out to get you. There are some cumbersome real time train battles, and you can blow up tracks (and lure enemies into traps that way, though I never tried it). The UI is kind of obtuse as there are no tooltips (it predates XCOM so that's to be expected), but one cool detail is that if you want to quit the game you have to pick up a gun and commit suicide.
In my opinion the highlight of this game is the gorgeous pixel art scenes, some of the best I've seen on Amiga.
