cathy went to hawaii so i dogsat/housesat for her for a week(in austin). i basically just had to feed them and poop them so it was pretty straightforward. house wise i didn't really have to do anything besides water the plants, which cathy didn't give too much detail on, and i ended up watering a plant that was actually fake.
never had a dog before so it was pretty fun. Also was just actually visiting cathy in general since she just moved to austin and i haven't been to texas, and more importantly southwest airlines had a sale.
austin is pretty cool i'd go again. not making an austin vlog so ill describe it here: there's lots of food, lots of fusion food. it is pretty hot, A/C is definitely a must. even in davis, it would cool down at night. here it was hot even at night. there seems to be lots of places to congregate and loiter. lots of santana row-esque areas and parks. although i will have to say driving/parking experience in the bay area is in general unmatched. Some places had small parking lots or paid parking for parks, and the lane markers in general are so faded. but at least from what i experienced, traffic does not seem that bad. the downtown area itself doesn't seem to have that many high rises as other metros, but there are many pockets of office buildings further out in the suburbs. Also there's lots of nature and hiking which was unexpected and very cool. obviously i wouldnt hike in the middle of summer but still. idk man, austin seems cooler than the bay. should i buy a house there? like after the recession. or maybe during the recession the prices will go down. and just bank on not getting laid off.
