September 25, 1967. 20 miles south if Saigon, a unique Army-Navy strike force called "Mobile Riverine Force" is busy daily pursuing the enemy in the Mekong Delta. Here in the Sri Rap River over 1,100 sailors and soldiers make daily forays against the enemy from Self-Propelled Barracks Ships, the Beneway and the Colleton.
Leaving the "mother" ship some 25 armored river boars and troop landing craft depart on a search and destroy mission. Upon arrival at the area of suspected enemy concentrations the ships prep the beach with cannon and machine gun fire to detonate booby-traps and eliminate possible ambush positions. Jets join the attack on the enemy position.
After the areas have been "prepped" the patrol lands troops on the river bank in a ground attack on the enemy area. The elusive enemy fled the area without engaging this patrol, although the unit rounded up a few suspects which are brought back for questioning by the South Vietnamese interrogators.
