If you owe money to Canada’s Revenue Agency (CRA) you need to deal with it. Some taxpayers take the approach that if they close their eyes CRA will go away. In my more than 40 years of experience with CRA, I can tell you - they don’t give up. If you ignore them, they will eventually garnish your wages or seize your bank account.
By far the best bet is to call them back when they call you and explain why you have not made a full payment of your taxes owing. If you cannot pay it all at once, and this is not uncommon, agree to a payment plan. Agree to a plan that you can actually stick to and make those payments. If you communicate with CRA and do what they ask, you will avoid the problem of finding out CRA has seized your bank account.
