Douglas legends DC-8 & DC-3 & more at Prestwick airport 23rd & 24th of August 2025

Описание: So I went to Scotland, for this grand old lady, N782SP of Samaritans Purse a Douglas DC-8 one of just 3 left flying anywhere in the world in 2025. The DC-8 was the second American jetliner & first Douglas Jetliner to enter service, just after Boeings 707 in 1959, 500 were built. They say the DC-8, has unlimited airframe ours, meaning that in theory with a limited supply of parts it could fly forever. 782SP, was built in 69, serving first with Finnair as a 62H & then with the French AF it was re-engined with CFM56's & it was converted into a Combi (passenger-freight) aircraft with ATI & after finishing with them, she was bought by SP in 2015 & has been operating with them ever since, SP are unique organisation, they deliver aid to places around the world with they're fleet & they are very spiritual company, infact they have prayer before every flight, certainly a good cause.
The DC-8 for me also has some sentimental value, my grandad George Sealey, used to have me round to his house when I was young & showed me these VHS tapes of old airliners at LHR, one of them was a DC-8 coming in, I asked "why is it soo smoky?" He said "well that's a DC-8, one of first jetliners, you don't see many of those nowadays, hopefully you'll catch one, some day" ever since then I've wanted to capture one & now finally I have, what an awesome machine, she'll be retired in a few months meaning this could be the last DC-8 to visit the UK.

There was also a few extra interesting things such as a Douglas DC-3 amazingly, well technically speaking a C-53 skytrooper, a first for me, she was named "The Spirit of Douglas" imagine seeing a DC8 7 DC3 in the same day in Europe, mental , only somewhere like Prestwick that could happen, we also a Cessna 172, now usually I wouldn't include a pretty uninteresting aircraft in my vid, but, this time this particular one had floats on it, which is something you don't see very often, it had cool tartan tail, very fitting. There was two C-17's a USAF one & USAF one. There was also a Kuwait & another USAF so four C17's on the ground. Another first for me was the Air China Cargo 777F & RAF A330, a few choppers as well, an Royal Navy Merlin & Coastguard AW189, all in very interesting & diverse array aircraft a bit everything, what I love about Prestwick the most, it also peaceful easy to park at & got a great view, basically what's there not to like, only thing is it's not like Heathrow, so if you like loads of same thing go there, but, if you don't mind waiting around, it does reward, certainly did this time around.
