Colin: Hey, everyone. It's Colin here at etrailer. Today we're going to take a look at the Pontoon Boat Post-Style Guide-Ons from CE Smith. Now, these Guide-Ons are going to assist you with lining up your pontoon boat correctly when you're loading it up on your trailer at the end of your day on the water. Now, what's nice about these is that as opposed to the longer ones, which sit outside, and you just pull your entire boat up in between them, these are more low profile. When you submerge your trailer completely, these are going to stick up out of the water so as you're coming up, you just make sure you line it up to where each inside part of the pontoon boat is going to go right past them and then line it up correctly.Like I said, these are more low profile. They're going to be on the insides of your pontoon boat.

You don't need those outside posts now. You don't have to add the extra width to the outside of your trailer. You don't need those 70+ inch PVC tubes sticking up on the outside. When your boat is loaded, these are not going to be visible. Now, where we have these installed, we have them on the very back of the frame of our trailer, but if you have a longer pontoon or even a tri-toon boat, you might want to consider putting these more towards the middle of the frame or even towards the front so that when you submerge them, they are going to stick out of the water. Now the post is going to be made out of a 16-gauge pre-galvanized steel. It's going to do a great job of resisting rust and corrosion, and it's going to be very durable.

We have our two inch PVC tubing over the top of it. This is what's going to be visible out of the water. Now, one question we get from customers is, "How well is it going to hold up if I miss and I hit the post with my boat"Well, these are going to hold up very well as long as you're taking your time like you should be on the boat ramp. It'll guide you right onto it. It's going to mount to the frame of your trailer using two U-bolts along with some lock nuts and flat washers and then the bracket up here that's holding the tube in place. You have the option of keeping the U-bolts separate like they are right here, or crossing them like we have on the other post.

That's why one of them has the notch right here. It's going to go over the top of the flat part of the other U-bolt. When installing those U-bolts, you do want to make sure you have them the same on both sides, I just alternated them to show you what each one would look like. It's a really easy no-drill installation. We'll go ahead and show you how to do that now. We've got everything we need for our install.

We have our post along with our PVC tubing and the cap, our U-bolts, hardware, and the bracket. What we're going to do first is, I'm going to set the PVC aside for now, then we're going to grab our post and position that where we want. Now, we're going to want to get as close as we can. We'll go about two, two and a half inches away, then we're going to take our bracket and set it on top like so.Now we'll get our U-bolts. Like I said earlier, you have two options. You can come up and have two U-bolts separate or you can cross them. The other one we installed, the U-bolts are separate so we'll cross these two. Cross them and bring them up through. Probably be easier if you just took one at a time, the first U-bolt, then bring it up until it's sitting against the trailer. You want to make sure the U-bolt with the flat part right here goes first, and then bring the second one up like that and hold it.Now we're going to come back to the top and get our hardware loosely installed. So, we'll just put a flat washer on each of them, and then get our lock nuts installed. Then we just let it sit there for now. Before we do any tightening down, we're going to bend our post back so we can get our PVC tubing over top of it, slide that down and over, and then put our end-cap on.From here, what we're going to do is push our U-bolts up until they're touching the bottom part of our frame, then we're going to tighten down all of our lock nuts until they're just about to make contact with their flat washers, and then we're going to stop from there. The reason we didn't tighten it down all the way is because that rattling probably caused our post to be thrown off where we want it, so, we're just going to readjust where we want our bracket and our post, and this time, when we tighten everything down for good, we're going to keep a hold of
