I recently gave a speech at Toastmasters about the "Outrage Industrial Complex" that 50-year slide from the "Innocent Thanksgiving Table" to being medicated with digital adrenaline.
In my speech, I talked about how we’ve been "duped and manipulated" by systems that profit from our rage.

That’s why I decided to rebrand my new mountain bike as ACME ANVIL CO.

It's a "Surly-ish" poke at the industrial revolution that IMO, has made us fat, lazy and divisively distracted...

The word Acme means "The Peak" or "The Summit," but as history shows, it became a generic label for a world that promises everything and delivers nothing.
We’ve all been like Wiley Coyote, buying into the "Acme" products of modern life—the social media algorithms and 24-hour news cycles—hoping they’ll help us catch the "Roadrunner" of happiness.

Instead, they usually just drop an anvil on our heads.

For me, this bike represents the Antidote. It’s not a "fictional product" that's prone to disaster. It’s a tool for the real world. Every mile I ride is a mile away from the "manufactured convenience" of the digital world and a step closer to the "1970s Table" where we actually see each other, and better hear Him.

The "Acme" systems of the world want us to hate our neighbors, both foreign and domestic, to keep us clicking.

I’m choosing to ride a different path. I’m trading the dopamine of the "Outrage Machine" for the grit of the trail.

Who profits from you hating your neighbor? Not you. Go for a ride instead.
