Описание: With the Supreme Court scheduled to hear the PILs seeking a ban on ‘irrational freebies’ as poll promises on Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filed an additional affidavit stating that poll speeches and promises are part of ‘freedom of speech’.

The apex court had last week indicated that it could set up an expert panel to consider the issue of fiscal responsibility and freebies. The Chief Justice of India (CJI)-led bench also emphasised the need to balance "welfare schemes and fiscal responsibility".
