HISTORY OF PIRWADHAI BUS STAND RAWALPINDI
Pirwadhai Bus Stand, located in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, serves as a central hub for intercity transportation, connecting the city to various destinations across the country. Established approximately 45 years ago on a 200-kanal area, it has grown into one of the busiest bus terminals in the region. ​

Prior to its establishment, the main bus terminal was situated near Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi. In 1974, during the tenure of Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the terminal was relocated to its current location in Pirwadhai to accommodate the increasing transportation demands of the growing population. ​

Over the years, the bus stand experienced neglect, leading to deteriorated infrastructure and inadequate facilities. Recognizing its significance, local authorities initiated a comprehensive renovation plan, culminating in a significant overhaul completed in June 2023. The revamped terminal now offers air-conditioned waiting areas, modern restrooms, enhanced security through CCTV surveillance, a mosque, a fuel station, and improved road infrastructure, aiming to provide a more comfortable experience for travelers. ​
Today, Pirwadhai Bus Stand continues to be a vital transportation nexus, facilitating travel to all four provinces of Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, and stands as a testament to Rawalpindi's commitment to improving public transport infrastructure
