Описание: Deadly cross-border fighting between Pakistan and Afghanistan has intensified, with both sides claiming heavy losses. Pakistan Prime Minister’s spokesperson for foreign media, Mosharraf Zaidi, said 297 Afghan fighters were killed and more than 450 injured.

An Afghan spokesperson claimed 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 19 posts seized. He added that eight Taliban fighters were killed, 11 wounded and 13 civilians injured in Nangarhar province. The figures could not be independently verified by Al Jazeera.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said air strikes targeted “military installations”, which were “completely destroyed.”

US President Donald Trump, when asked about intervening, said, “Well, I would, but I get along with Pakistan, as you know, very well – very, very well.”

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an immediate ceasefire.
