Everyone I know who signed after they had a fanbase, revenue, and momentum - all negotiated WILDDDDDDD shit - and the label / publisher / etc happily paid to make it happen.

Your goal should be to get a bunch of small placements, some momentum, and an understanding of how this all works.

That way, when you’re in the room with ‘the big whigs'…

You know your way around, have a general idea if it’s a good deal, and know if they’re promising you more than they can deliver.

You genuinely have the option to sign a deal with them, or continue on making your own $.
