3 Write a balanced chemical equation with state symbols for the following reactions.
Solutions of barium chloride and sodium sulphate in water react to give insoluble barfum sulphate and the solution of sodium chloride.
(1) Sodium hydroxide solution (in water) reacts with hydrochloric acid solution (in water) to produce sodium chloride solution and water.
A balanced chemical equation is a chemical equation in which the number of atoms of each element is the same on both the reactants and products sides . It follows the law of conservation of mass, according to which matter is neither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction.
Why is a balanced chemical equation important?
Conservation of mass:
This law ensures that the total mass remains constant in a chemical reaction. The total mass of the reactants is equal to the total mass of the products.
Number of atoms:
The number of atoms of each element is equal on both sides of the reaction, which shows that no atoms are lost or gained.
