His other top priorities include tackling the opioid crisis and focusing on education. Santana says he’s looking to provide full access and better benefits to people in the South Bronx. His top priorities include affordability, crime and health. Perez is a Marine veteran who was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the South Bronx as a child.  His resume includes the last 16 years serving Community Board 1, as well as working under several City Council members, state assembly members and state senators. Perez says his top priorities are crime, housing and tackling the opioid crisis
