AUKUS alliance 'clearly antagonises' China

It comes amid the formation of a new trilateral relationship between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States for the Indo-Pacific region.

Mr Ware said China was Australia's biggest buyer on the international market.

"But by the same token you could argue that China gave us the room to arrive at this decision," he told Sky News Australia.

"Because they've been nudging us towards something like this.

"with Beijing attack us with tariffs on coal, beef, barley and wine – but make no mistake this is a massive turning point."
