Hi, I'm Jen and I'm the manager of the training department here at DogBoy's and this is Whitney, one of our certified trainers. We're back with some more recall games today. So before we start playing our recall game, hide and seek, I'd like to introduce you to our little helper today. This is Charlie. He's a Papillon. He's gonna be using his emergency recall for this game. So emergency recall is a little bit different than everyday recall. Everyday recall is something like come or here that you use around your house or short distances, but emergency recall is a special recall cue that you wanna set up that's a little bit louder and can carry over long distances that you can use in really important situations like life or death situations where your dog is running out of the house or running in front of a car, something like that. It's really important whenever we train emergency recall, we use a really high value reinforcement which is pretty easy with Charlie because he'll eat anything. So Charlie's emergency recall is a sound that goes pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. It's a high pitch staccato sound because that tends to make dogs wanna come to you. It's kind of an exciting sound. Whitney is gonna distract Charlie. I'm gonna go hide behind that, and then I'm gonna use Charlie's emergency recall to call him over to me. And then I'm gonna reinforce him when he finds me. This is a really fun game that you can play in your home. So you can have someone distract your dog, you can go hide in another room, use their emergency recall, and when they find you, it's really reinforcing 'cause they get some maybe food rewards or something like that. But then they also get to find you, and you're probably their favorite person. So Whitney's gonna distract him. I'm gonna go hide. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. Yes, good boy. So good. Good job. We're gonna do this a couple more times. I'm gonna have Whitney distract him, and then I'm gonna hide and call him over to me and reinforce him when he finds me. He looks pretty distracted so I'm gonna go ahead and call him. Charlie, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. Yay, good boy. So good. Good boy, yeah. Good job.

So that's a little game of hide and seek. You can do that in your house, you can do that in your backyard, anywhere where you can hide a little bit and then have the dog find you.
