More than 100 former patients of Universal Health Services (UHS) youth residential treatment facilities in Illinois (Hartgrove, Streamwood, Riveredge, Pavillion, Rock River Academy) have retained the Chicago law firm of Stinar Gould Grieco & Hensley, PLLC (SGGH), to represent in cases alleging they were subjected to sexual, physical and/or psychological abuse while residing at these facilities. The victims ranged from 8-17 years of age, spanning the early 1990s until 2022.
The legal team leading these cases, which includes SGGH Founding Partners Martin Gould and Mike Grieco, and Partner Symone Shinton, held a press conference at SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown/River North at 410 North Dearborn Street, Chicago on December 12, 2024, where they discussed survivor experiences and impacts, legal theories supporting the case, demands for systematic reform, and patterns of institutional failure.
Former patients of youth residential treatment facilities in Illinois who experienced sexual abuse, or have any information, are encouraged to contact SGGH (sgghlaw.com).
